Brian May Burns Conversion

An interesting project.....loadsa room under scratchplate to fit 300 motherboard AND retain the pups! Here I have done a trial markout.

Hatched area shows wood that needs to be routed away.

Yay......everything fits!

Bridge mod.........Intonation set & saddles marked.

Holes will now be drilled for Piezo wires. Dots mark the spot!

Bridge mod completed. Note recessed pivot plate. Took 3 drills to cut thru this.....extra hard steel! Also, piezo wires had to be extended.

here the cavity has been finished with conductive paint. All Vax components in situ.

View of socket

Here we are connecting the pups. 300 switch has unused pole like the 500, so will double up for pups. Vol/Tone controlled by stacked pot. Toggle switch chooses between Vax & pups. Toggle also switches power off to Vax when pups used.

Switching power off to Vax saves on batteries & eliminates digital whine pups are sensitive to when in close proximity to motherboard.

Here we have a battery pack. Saves cutting a huge hole in the back of the guitar. This connects thru the jack socket. Box contains output jack to amp (yellow lead) or wireless.

Battery box attaches to guitar strap & is unobtrusive. Could conceivable use bigger battery pack with this system.

Finished guitar. Original scratchplate r etained & control section made from mirror backed acrylic.
