This fine instrument was made from scratch by Rose who was inspired by Jeff Miller (arent we all!) Not completely finished yet, but I think it looks pretty good now! More info here:http://www.exit45.com/guitar

Quote from Paul: "Just so you know it was a Vax 300 implanted into a 1994 Ibanez RX 650 (which I bought off Ebay for £220) with a flame maple top and the pickguard made by K9vap. I also put on an Earvana nut. I cost around £550 for the whole project and it blows away the 700 series in every department."

"This is my second vax conversion. Someone bought my first one, so I wanted to make one for myself. Anyway, this conversion was built from scratch which I dubbed K-1VC. It is a chambered carve top with sound holes. The body is black limba and the top is flamed maple. The magnetic pickups are Seymour Duncans... Alnico Pro II (neck) and Pearly Gates (bridge). The axe is fun to play and sounds awesome! If you have any questions send a "PM" to Guitarded of the Institute of Noise forum (http://www.instituteofnoise.com/forum/default.asp) " |

My transplant is a Fender John Signature Telecaster with Variax 500 internals. It can now either be played with its original magnetic pickups or switched to use all the Variax models (sweet). The control in the horn is stacked for both volume & tone for the pups. The controls in the Tele control bar are for the Vax. Micro switch is to toggle between Pups/Vax. Any questions please email me on dean.list@listdesigngroup.co.uk Any comments appreciated! |

My Teliax Thinline project is a Variax™ 300 equipped semi-hollow Telecaster Thinline body, fitted with the Variax technology minus their battery and powered 1/4" output jack in lieu of the passive pickup jack. Since I play through the PodXTLive I never used the powered jack just the digital cable connected to the pod so I went with this configuration. Although it can be adapted to accomodate both passive and vax with a miniswitch functioning as an AB.

The brief on Dino's Strat was to create a hybrid Variax without altering the external appearance. The only givaway are the piezo elements in the saddles.Dino used a 700 motherboard to save space. Also dispensed with VDI input to keep totally faithful to the Strat design. The Selector knob takes the place of the second tone control but heeps the original knob & does away with the clicks. This makes it difficult to select models, but Dino says this is not a problem as he rarely uses different models. The guitar has active pickups with onboard 9V battery. The toggle switches between the Vax & active pups, & also cleverly switches the power. Both tone controls from the Vax & pups have been dispensed with. Only the volumes are present.

Bass Guitar Conversion by Rose!
|

Variax bass 705 5-string conversion. Body is cocobolo / alder / cocobolo, neck is from Warmoth's showcase and is 5 piece maple / wenge with a rosewood fingerboard. I used 5 coats of polyurethane clear coat to encase the beauty of the wood. Just a simple straight conversion.

Stephen Robert's Music man

Put the electronics into a Music man Sillouette Special copy made by Axtech. Added a Wilkinson powerbridge. Great improvement over the much flawed 600 series and gives me a 24 fret Ibanez like neck. Contact bcmedic@shaw.ca |
